Published on Thursday 26th May 2011 by Jon Hubbard
Lib Dem Councillors and campaigners were out in the Pembroke Road area in Melksham today conducting a litter pick.
Wiltshire Councillors Jon Hubbard and Steve Petty were joined by Town Council colleagues Peter Dauncy and Terri Welch together with local campaigner Pat Aves.
The team spend 90 minutes collecting rubbish from Strattons Walk, Thackery Crescent, Milton Road, Sangster Avenue, Coronation Road and Pembroke Road.
They were joined by a number of local residents, pleased to see their local Focus Team actually taking positive action to help clean up Melksham rather than just talking about it.
Melksham South Councillor Jon Hubbard commented, "It's Action, not words that matter. The local Lib Dem Focus team not only work to get new bins installed and streets cleaned but also are prepared to get their hands dirty and do some real work themselves. Next month we will be working in Hazelwood Road and the pathway leading through to Church Walk."
The team are looking for nominations for other locations that would benefit from a litter pick. You can nominate your suggestion by visiting the Tourist Information Centre in the town, or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
